Edward S. Walker, Jr. is the president and CEO of the Middle East Institute in Washington. Previously, Walker worked in the first Administration of George W. Bush as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, a position he formerly had during the second Clinton Administration. Walker was US Ambassador to Israel (1997-1999), the Arab Republic of Egypt (1994-1997), and the United Arab Emirates (1989-1992), as well as Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations (1992-1993). He appears regularly on US and Arab broadcasts to offer an American perspective on current issues relating to Middle Eastern and American relations.
