Avi Dichter is the former director of the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Service). Dichter is an ex-Sayeret Matkal commando and an experienced Shabak agent. He tightened the working relationship with the Israeli Defense Forces and the Israeli police. Dichter was in charge when the al-Aqsa Intifada erupted and was a prominent player in Israel's war against terrorism.
