Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah, is a prominent Shi`ite Grand Cleric. Based in Lebanon, he is regarded as the spiritual leader of Hezbollah. Born in Najaf in 1935, Fadlallah began his Islamic education under eminent Shi’a scholars in Iraq, and moved to Lebanon in 1952. In the following decades, he gave many lectures, wrote dozens of books, established several religious schools, and founded the Mabarrat Association. Through this association, Fadlallah established a public library, a women’s cultural center, and a medical clinic. His scholarly acumen has established him as a leading and reputable religious authority in the Middle East.
