Ibrahim Hamidi is the Bureau Chief of Al-Hayat Newspaper in Syria. Hamidi holds a similar position for LBC TV, the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation. Previously, he served as the Bureau Chief for Al-Hayat Daily and Al-Wasat Weekly in Damascus, weekly commentator for the Daily Star, and as a correspondent to the Arabic service of SBS radio in Australia. In addition to free-lance writing for the Daily Star and the Daily Telegraph, Hamidi travels extensively to cover a wide array of issues worldwide, although he specializes in Syrian politics. Hamidi was arrested on December 23, 2002 and imprisoned until May 25th, 2003 as he was accused of publishing .inaccurate information..
